Alex Holden-Smith

Alex took up rowing at Bewdley Rowing Club in 2002 because he was accompanying a friend who wanted to start. He won his first GB vest in 2007 taking a bronze medal in the coxed four event at the World U23 Championships.

He believes his greatest achievement to date was winning the Temple Challenge Cup, a club eight's event, at Henley Royal Regatta in 2006, where Oxford Brookes won by just half a length.

Also in 2006, he won the open eights event at the National Championships Regatta and Senior 2 coxless fours at the Fours' Head of the River.

Alex is a student at Oxford Brookes where he is studying Communication, Media and Culture.

In his spare time, Alex is a fan of NHL ice hockey, which he also used to play, and motor biking.
