Andrea Dennis
Andrea gained her first senior team vest in the lightweight single in 2007, creditably making the A final and finishing 5th. She raced in the lightweight single at the 2008 World Cup in Munich winning a silver medal and later in the year at Poznan a gold medal in the lightweight quadruple scull.
A former county track athlete, Andrea started rowing at the age of 20 at the Falcon Rowing Club in Oxford, when home from University for the summer. After a brief stint at novice rowing in her final year at the University of Leeds, she found renewed interest in the sport when returning to Oxford after graduating, and joined the City of Oxford Rowing Club.
Andrea rowed with the City of Oxford Rowing Club for two seasons, winning the National Championships in the lightweight coxless four in 2004, before joining Wallingford Rowing Club in 2006 to learn to scull under the supervision of Rob Dauncy and Pete Sudbury.
She was selected for the England team for the Commonwealth Championships of 2006 in the lightweight women's single, coming home with a bronze medal.
Andrea currently works for Oxford Brookes University as a lab technician and demonstrator in Sport and Exercise Science and is also completing a PhD part time. Oxford Brookes University is hugely supportive of her rowing career. When Andrea isn't rowing she enjoys running and surfing.
Andrea is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
