Bill Lucas
Bill was discovered through the ARA's World Class Start programme in 2004. In 2005 he rowed in the GB junior quad, finishing 5th. He took a gap from GB Rowing in 2006 to complete his A Levels and in 2007 was selected for the World U23 Championships winning a bronze medal. He raced in a double with Charles Cousins. In 2007 he was also a reserve for the Senior Team. In the 2008 World Cup series he raced in the quad finishing 10th in Munich.
He also raced in the double at the World Cup in Amsterdam and Lucerne in 2007 finishing 10th in the latter.
Bill is in his 2nd year at Reading University, studying Politics and International Relations. His best non rowing achievement was climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in 2004.
Bill rowed originally at Dart Totnes rowing club and he credits his first coach and mentor Will Hawkyard with much of his success to date.
He also raced in the double at the World Cup in Amsterdam and Lucerne in 2007 finishing 10th in the latter.
