Bob Hewitt

Bob has been part of the ARA's World Class Start Programme since 2006.

In 2007 he gained his first GB vest when he finished 5th in the lightweight quad at the World U23s. He was also selected to represent Great Britain at the 2006 Youth Olympic Festival in Australia, where he won a silver in the men's eight.

Bob has also won two gold medals at the British Indoor Rowing Championships: in 2004 in J18 lightweight men and in 2005 in open lightweight men.

He started rowing at 14 years old after a friend suggested to him he might enjoy it. Before taking up rowing competitively he played rugby and did cross-country running to county level.

For the last few years Bob has worked as a window cleaner, a job that he still odes a couple of times a week around his training.

Bob's long-term ambition is to win an Olympic gold medal.
