Cameron Nichol

Cameron won his first GB vest in 2007, winning bronze in the four at the World U23 Championships, less than two years after taking up the sport. He raced in the second men's four at the 2008 World Cup in Lucerne.

Originally a basketball player, Cameron tried rowing because he was unable to play basketball at university to a high level. He remains a fan of the sport however and supports the LA Lakers.

Cameron finished 5th in the eight at the 2007 European Championships. He has also previously represented England at the Home International Regatta in 2006 where he won two gold medals, in the coxed four and the eight.

He has been successful domestically too, winning the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, the student coxed fours event, at Henley Royal Regatta in 2007. He was a BUSA gold medal winner in the Championship pairs event in 2007 and a national champion in 2006 in the men's coxed fours event.

While growing up, Cameron lived in various countries around the world, including Singapore, Dubai and Japan and, as a result of his time there, he speaks Japanese. He is in his third year studying medicine at University College London and hopes to go into sports medicine when he graduates.
