Charles Burkitt

Charles was a bronze medallist on the men's pair event at the 2007 U23 Championships.

Charles started rowing at 16 when he was looking for a new sport to try. He used to be a swimmer.

He had a successful season domestically last year, winning the Thames Cup (the club eights event) with Leander Club at Henley Royal Regatta and winning gold in the men’s pair at Essen Regatta.

As a junior, Charles won a silver medal at the World Junior Rowing Championships in 2004 in the coxed four and competed in 2003 at the Coupe de la Jeunesse.

He has won various medals at the National Schools Regatta and the National Championships Regatta.

At one point, Charles held the course record at the National Championships for a J16 single scull.

Charles is currently in his final year as a student at Reading University. He is studying cybernetics and is interested in simulations. In his spare time he works as a waiter and barman.
