He was the World Under 23 Champion in the lightweight men's pair in 2006 with Richard Chambers.

Chris started rowing at the King's School, Chester, aged 14 and rowed for both Great Britain and England in the Coupe de la Jeunesse and the home counties regatta respectively as a junior. He continued rowing at the University of Nottingham where he competed a BSc in Biology and a MSc in Biological Photography.

In 2005, his first season of under 23 trialing, he stroked the lightweight men's quad to a silver medal in Amsterdam. The following year Chris rowed in the lightweight men's pair with Richard Chambers, picking up a total of four gold medals at Duisburg and Holland Becker International regattas. Chris added another gold medal at the World Cup in Poznan, beating a strong pair from Germany who later went on to become World Champions at Eton, 2006 where Chris and Richard finished 6th.

Chris graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2006 and moved to Reading to train with the senior lightweight squad at Caversham Lake. He now lives with fellow lightweight squad member Zac Purchase.
