Chris Boddy

Chris gained his first GB vest in 2007 when he finished 5th in the lightweight quad at the World U23 Championships.

Although Chris first took up rowing at Yarm School in 1999, it was not until he was spotted by his local World Class Start coach that he started rowing seriously. Chris has now been on the scheme for two years.

Chris was selected for the Great Britain squad for the 2006 Youth Olympic Festival in Australia, where he won two silver medals, in the lightweight double scull and in the men’s eight.

Chris represented England at the Home International Regatta in 2006, where he won gold in the junior quadruple scull. Chris also won gold in that boat type at the National Schools Regatta and the National Championships Regatta in the same year.

He has a wide range of sporting interests outside rowing, which includes running and cycling. Chris is also a keen musician: he passed his grade eight in piano at the age of 11 and is currently taking a performance diploma on the cello.

He has deferred his place at university in order to train full time.
