Dan Ritchie
Dan has been part of the ARA's World Class Start scheme for the last two years, having approached the ARA for a test and passed with flying colours. He is now based at Reading University. He raced in the second men's four at the 2008 World Cup in Lucerne.
This is Dan's first year of U23s, having narrowly missed out on a squad place in 2007.
Dan was a talented swimmer, racing the 1500m for GB at the European Junior Championships in 2004 and achieving a world ranking of 72. Dan then moved to Australia and attended a school that was strong at rowing. On his return to the UK, Dan decided to try rowing. His older sister also represented GB at swimming.
In 2006, after just 9 months of rowing, Dan won Elite single sculls at Marlow Regatta and Senior 2 single sculls at Metropolitan Regatta.
His hobbies include reading books, going to the movies and coaching swimming. Outside rowing, Dan's long term ambition is to join the police force.
