Daniel Harte
Danny is a property consultant who has been a member of the GB lightweight men’s squad since 2003. He placed 5th in the men's lightweight pair at the 2007 World Rowing Championships. He won a bronze in the lightweight pair at the Linz World Cup in June 2007 and he placed 4th in the lightweight pair at the 2008 Poznan World Cup.
He started rowing at George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh, Scotland where he was club captain in his final year.
He went on to study Real Estate Management at Oxford Brookes where he renewed his interest in rowing before moving on to Clyde ARC where he competed for Scotland at the Commonwealth Championships of 1999 in the lightweight men's four and eight. During this time he was also twice a Henley semi–finalist.
He took two years off to concentrate on his professional career before taking up rowing again in 2001, joining London Rowing Club. In his first season there, he made the final of the Wyfold Cup and went on to compete in the 2002 Commonwealth Championships, winning gold in the lightweight eight for England.
2003 was his first year in the senior squad and he was 6th in the lightweight eight at the World Championships.
In 2005 he raced in the lightweight men's pair winning a bronze medal at the Munich World Cup in June, finished 5th at the Lucerne World Cup and won the B Final at the World Championships in Japan – all with Paul Mattick.
During the 2006 World Cup, he moved into the Olympic Class four and took 4th in Munich, 5th in Poznan and 7th in Lucerne.
At the 2006 World Championships the British lightweight men's four reached the final in exciting style and took 5th place.
Danny works for Nelson Bakewell, a national property consultancy, who are hugely supportive of his rowing career.
