Miles Forbes Thomas
Miles coached the women's double of Anna Bebington and Elise Laverick to a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics and Sarah Winckless and Elise Laverick to a bronze medal at the Athens Olympics. He has continued to work with GB's top women's scullers since then.
Miles emerged as an international coach in the 1990s when he coached Peter Haining to three successful world titles in the lightweight single between 1993 and 1995. In 2000 he coached the GB women's eight who qualified for the Sydney Olympics, finishing 4th.
Miles has been the Head Coach at Thames Rowing Club for several years. He has been a visiting coach at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and the US Rowing National Training Centre.
Miles has worked as a banker, has a background in biochemistry and a preference for BMWs. He enjoys sailing and opera and when he can get away spends time at his house in Emsworth, Hants.
