Mohamed Sbihi
Mo is a successful product of the ARA's World Class Start programme. He was originally discovered in 2003 when he was tested at his school, the Hollyfield School.
In his first U23 year, Mo won a bronze medal in the men's four at the World U23 Championships.
Mo was a 2006 Junior World Championships finalist in the men's pair, finishing 5th. He also competed in the Youth Olympic Festival in Australia in January 2007, where he won a gold in the men's four and two silvers, one in the men's pair and one in the men's eight. He raced in the second men's four at the 2008 World Cup in Lucerne.
In 2006, as a junior, Mohamed won all the pairs' trials he entered. He also had the fastest 2km ergo test time of any junior triallist in that year.
Mohamed won gold at the Great Britain Indoor Rowing Championships in 2006 in the U18 category and in 2003 in the U15 category.
His ambitions include winning gold at the 2012 Olympics.
Mo is in his second year studying Sport Science at St Mary's College, Twickenham. He lives with his family in Surbiton. His interests include football, particularly Arsenal FC, basketball, film and music.
Mo is also a practising Muslim and can speak a dialect of Arabic. He regularly visits his family in Morocco.
Mo is grateful to his coach, Sue McNuff and her patience in teaching him everything he now knows about rowing.
