Robin Bourne-Taylor

Robin was selected for the Men's pair in the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 and finished 13th.

Robin raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series, finishing 2nd and 3rd. He is a two time world championship bronze medallist and four time Oxford Blue, who competed in the Olympic Games in 2004. He placed 5th at the Linz World Cup in June 2007, won a bronze medal at the Amsterdam World Cup and bronze at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich all in the Men's eight.

Robin started rowing at Abingdon School, following in his brother's footsteps.

In 1999 Robin raced in the GB four at the World Junior Championships in Plovdiv where his crew recorded a time of 5:47.3, at that time the fastest ever by a British boat, senior or junior. The four won a silver medal, running the opposition very close for gold.

After a gap year in Nepal he went to Oxford University where he competed in four Oxford/Cambridge Boat Races from 2001–2005, winning three times, including when President in 2005. In 2003 his Oxford crew overcame the biggest weight disadvantage of all time to hold off Cambridge by just one foot.

Robin raced in the GB eight in 2002 finishing 6th. He stayed in this boat in 2003 which improved throughout the season showing their class at the World Championships in Milan by qualifying for the final and the Athens Olympic Games. In the final they raced in a leading pack of three, finishing with a creditable bronze medal.

Robin began the 2004 season by winning the B Final of the men's pair with Phil Simmons at the GB Senior Selection Trials and went on to race in the eight at all the season's World Cups. He was selected for the Olympic Games in Athens, finishing 9th overall in an eight which had its problems with illness during the Games.

Robin completed his degree in Engineering Science at Oxford in 2005. He did not contend for GB selection in 2006. Having completed his Army training at Sandhurst he was commissioned into the Lifeguards, part of the Household Cavalry Regiment, where his rank is Second Lieutenant.
