Tom Stallard

Tom was selected in the men's eight for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and won a silver medal. 

Tom is a former World champion who represented GB in the 2004 Olympic Games. A four time Cambridge Blue, he won a bronze medal in the eight at the 2007 World Rowing Championships. He came 5th in the men's eight at the Linz World Cup in June 2007, won a bronze in the eight at the Amsterdam World Cup and came 4th in the men's eight at the Lucerne World Cup. He raced in the eight in the 2008 World Cup series finishing 2nd, 3rd and 1st.

Tom started rowing at the age of 13 with his father Matt who is a former University of London rower and well known as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who has helped many rowers back to full fitness.

Tom raced in the coxed four at the World Under 23 Championships in 1999, winning bronze, and in 2000 finishing fourth. He also rowed in four University Boat Races for Cambridge from 1999 – 2002, winning twice, and was Cambridge President in 2002.

Tom gained his first senior GB vest when he won gold in the coxed four at the 2002 World Rowing Championships in Seville with three of the Olympic gold medal winning eight from Sydney. He followed this with a silver medal in the same boat class at the 2003 World Championships in Milan and went on to gain Olympic selection for Athens in the eight, finishing 9th.

Tom raced in the men's eight throughout the World Cup series in 2005 taking a bronze medal at Eton in May and a 5th place at the World Cup finals in Lucerne in July. The eight went on to perform well at the 2005 World Championships in Gifu, Japan, finishing 4th.

The 2006 World Cup saw further strength with a 5th place in Munich and 6th in Lucerne. He was also part of the British men's eight which finished fifth in the final of the 2006 World Championships at Eton.

Tom is studying for a Masters in motorsport engineering at Brunel University and is building an AC Cobra replica in his spare time.
