Tom Wilkinson
Tom is a graduate of the ARA's World Class Start scheme, which he joined in 2003. Since then he has achieved success on both the international and domestic stage.
In July 2007 Tom won bronze in the pair at the World Rowing U23 Championships with Charles Burkitt. Tom has already represented Great Britain at Under 23 level on two previous occasions. In both 2005 and 2006 Tom finished fifth in the men's coxed four.
He has also represented Great Britain at junior level, racing the men's Quadruple Scull in 2003 at the World Rowing Junior Championships finishing sixth.
Tom has also won various events at the Henley Royal Regatta on three successive years. In 2005 he won the Britannia Challenge Cup, a club coxed fours event, and then went on to win the men's quadruple scull event in 2006. Most recently, in 2007, Tom won the Visitors Challenge Cup.
Tom played rugby before he took up rowing.
Tom joined the police force after college, but put his career on hold in order to pursue his rowing. His sporting idol is Phil 'The Power' Taylor.
