Vicky Bryant

Vicky is the first athlete from Chester-le-street Rowing Club to represent her country at international level, having won GB vests at both junior and U23 levels.

At the 2007 World U23 Championships, Vicky won a bronze medal in the women’s four. She also took bronze at the 2005 World Junior Rowing Championships in Germany in the junior women’s eight.

More recently, in January 2006 she was a member of the Great Britain squad that competed at the Youth Olympic Festival in Australia, where she won two gold medals – in the four and the eight – as well as a bronze in the pair. At the 2006 Commonwealth Regatta in Strathclyde, Vicky won a bronze in the women’s senior pair’s event.

Vicky has also had significant domestic success. She won the women’s coxed four event at Women’s Henley in 2007, and earlier that season she won Senior 2 quadruple sculls at the Fours' Head of the River and won Senior 1 eights at the Women’s Eights' Head of the River.

She won a gold medal in the women’s senior coxless four event at the National Championships in 2006.

She finished her third year at Oxford Brookes University in 2007, studying Human Development and Education with Music. She plays the clarinet and piano.

Vicky intends to do a PGCE in the future in order to fulfil her ambition of becoming a primary school teacher.
