Boxing Day Row at SARC 2007
Members of Southampton Amateur Rowing Club (SARC), based in
Woolston, Southampton, braved the cold winter air - not to
mention the freezing water, to go out for their
annual Boxing Day row.
Traditionally the Captain of the club (Eddy Fleat) invites seven fellow rowers, and the all important cox, to join him in his 'Captain's Eight'. The crew take the opportunity to toast the club and its members, past and present, at this annual Boxing Day event.
The rowers, together with the captain, were: Trev Gay, Pat Smart, Andy Stevenson, Julie Russell, Sally Halliwell, Roger Hames, Andre Fay and Pat Fay (cox).
Two other rowers from the club also ventured out in a pair. These were Thomas Hames (junior rower) and Pete Ross.
A good time on the water was had by all followed by a very welcome hot drink in the club bar!
