The annual Bradford Schools' Go Race Indoors event was held on Monday 14th April 2008 at Bingley Grammar School. The school recently received 'Awards for All' funding for eight new indoor rowing machines and has created its own indoor rowing room both for curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The event in 2008 was aimed primarily at the year 7 pupils involved in Bradford ARC’s club school links programme. This programme involves five schools: Bingley Grammar School, Salt Grammar school, Belle Vue Girls’ School, Beckfoot School and Hanson School.

Sport Relief Rowing Challenge

Members of staff at the London offices of Partnerships for Schools (PfS) have been rowing to raise money for Sport Relief.

PfS is the government agency responsible for co-ordinating the Building Schools for the Future programme which aims to rebuild or refurbish every secondary school in England.

Organised by Karl Hoods, Head of Information Systems, the intrepid rowers took part in a series of team and individual races. The rowing machines were attached to a computer and data-projector that allowed participants to see who was winning.

Kent Schools Indoor Rowing Championships 2008

Go Race Indoors at Selly Park Girls School

On the 11th March 2008 Birmingham-based ARA coaches, Stuart Redden and Maddie Millichap, helped Selly Park Girls School to run an inter-house Go-Race indoor rowing competition for 144 students across Years 7, 8 and 9.

Each of the school's six houses (Clent, Abberley, Breedon, Malvern, Waltern, and Romsley) picked their best team of 8 for the challenge, with each team taking part in an eight-minute relay, with the winners determined by the distance recorded.

Plymouth Schools Success at Indoor Rowing Championships

Success for Gill Prescott at World Indoor Championships

Gill Prescott of Durham Amateur Rowing club has brought home yet another gold medal, this time from the World Indoor Rowing Championships held in Boston, USA on 24th Feburary 2008. Gill's world class time in the Women's 50-54 category was 7:20.6 and this gruelling competition was a 2000 metre battle.

West Region Schools Indoor Rowing Championships

The culmination of this year's Go Race Indoors series in the West Region took place on 26th February. This was the fourth annual Regional County Schools Championships and was hosted by Heles School, in Plymouth. Nearly 400 young people took part from more than 30 schools across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset - all competing for the regional schools' titles.

Rushcliffe Schools Indoor Rowing Competition

In September 2007 Rushcliffe Secondary Schools were equipped with brand new Indoor Rowing machines and staff were trained to use them. After-school clubs, led by Olympic hopefuls from Nottingham Rowing Club were then set up and the first indoor rowing competition took place at the Becket School in Wilford.
