ARA Online Incident Reporting

The ARA's online incident reporting system is now up and running and available for all our clubs and members to use. This new system will capture all types of incident including those, which are presently entered in the club's Incident Log Book as 'recordable' (no injury or significant damage to equipment).

'On presenting the Elite Coach class of 2008 with their certificates, Jurgen Grobler, Head Coach to the victorious men’s four in Beijing as well as the gold medal winning British boats from the previous four Olympic Games, said:

Unsung Hero - Andy Turner

Paralympian rower Alastair Mckean is backing the BBC's Unsung Hero awards as the South East's regional ambassador. Alastair knows how important the contributions of unsung heroes can be - he credits his own unsung hero Andy Turner with making him the success he is today.

Alastair told South East Today: "I have known Andy since 1999, and he's never asked for anything. He always gives up his time for free. He never sings his own praises and that's refreshing. He just does it because he loves it, he'd never expect any recognition.

New qualification in Indoor Rowing

ln partnership with 1st4Sport qualifications the ARA has developed the L1 and L2 certificate in indoor rowing. They are delivering these in partnership with lSPAL who have launched a programme of courses aimed at all sport and fitness professionals who use indoor rowing machines as a training tool.

The qualifications are the only ones of their type that meet the National Occupational Standards at Level 1 and Level 2.
