Row Safe
It is now four years since the present Water Safety Code was published and since that time further guidance has been published to help clubs and competitions develop their approach to safe practice.
This last year the Water Safety Working Group under the direction of the Water Safety Committee has been undertaking the task of reviewing the Code with the intention of bringing all safety related matters into a single document under the 'Row Safe' banner and to be known as 'A Guide to Safe Practice in Rowing'.
The criteria in producing the guide
- All topics will follow the same format highlighting 'responsibilities', 'Minimum Standards', 'Further Good Practice' and 'Additional Information'
- Provide simply, consistent advice to enable rowing to be as safe as necessary
- Any changes or updates will be issued through replacement topic pages to keep the club copy up to date. This will also be achieved through the ARA website.
- Off prints bringing together areas of responsibility and interest affecting individuals, clubs, coaches, water safety advisers, competitions etc. will be produced for easier reading.
- As topics are covered the drafts will be placed on the ARA website for feedback from our members.
Row Safe is due to be released in Novemner and will coincide with a revamp of this site's water safety area. We will also be linking relevant safety documents throughout the site to make it easy for you to find guidance.
