Vulnerable Adults
The ARA has realised the need for an individual policy for vulnerable adults, in line with the considerations of the Disability Discrimination Act, in order to promote equal opportunities and provide a clearer framework for those who suffer from physical, mental health and learning disabilities.
Ideally, good practice suggests a partnership model of working involving the ARA coach, teacher or club officer, the vulnerable adult and their carer. In these circumstances it is important that the vulnerable adult is at the centre of the decision-making process.
Full guidance on working with vulnerable adults will be published by the Association later this year.
